LOCATION
A century-old apartment reborn as a bright and cosmopolitan refuge.
The brief
In this 1923 home, a couple who has lived in different countries sought to create their definitive family base: a warm, bright, and deeply personal nest. This comprehensive renovation in Barcelona completely transformed the layout, moving the kitchen to the entrance to evoke the Northern European way of life, where everything begins around the home and food.
The new layout opens the space to the views, allowing light to accompany daily life and ensuring the house is always ready to welcome their adult children and friends traveling from different parts of the world.
Historical elements—hydraulic tiles, original woodwork—were preserved and combined with custom-made pieces and sustainable solutions: restoration instead of replacement, reuse of furniture, and a layout designed to maximize light and ventilation. The result is a contemporary, flexible, and vibrant home that respects its history while embracing the current way of living.
Scope of Work
Comprehensive redistribution of the layout · Kitchen relocated to the entrance · Large openings and connection between living room and “winter room” through custom-made steel door · Restoration of hydraulic floors and woodwork · Existing furniture combined with custom pieces · Technical and construction coordination.
